Responsibilities
Led the end-to-end product design for IremboApp V1
Defined the user experience for a diverse set of essential services
Designed a seamless and scalable interface for accessibility and usability
Collaborated with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to align on functionality
Problem
In Rwanda, access to essential services—whether public or private—has often been fragmented, requiring users to juggle multiple apps, websites, and service centers to accomplish everyday tasks like making payments, applying for documents, or accessing health and insurance services. While many of these services had been digitized, there was no centralized platform offering a holistic and convenient experience.
Existing digital solutions were often designed for desktop users, lacked integration across sectors, and didn’t reflect how most Rwandans engage with technology—on mobile, in motion, and with limited time or bandwidth. This created a disjointed experience for citizens who needed fast, reliable access to services but were left navigating complex, siloed systems.

Solution
An opportunity was clear: to create a single, mobile-first platform that simplifies how people interact with essential services—regardless of whether they're offered by the government or private sector.
IremboApp— was then created, a mobile-first solution designed to be Rwanda’s super app for everyday essentials. The vision was to reimagine how citizens interact with services that impact their daily lives—by putting access, transparency, and simplicity right at their fingertips. Instead of navigating multiple websites, visiting government offices, or depending on intermediaries, users can now access a wide range of essential services—from applying for certificates to making payments—within a single unified app experience.
From a design perspective, the challenge was to build an experience that balances utility with ease of use, catering to both digital natives and first-time app users. We crafted a thoughtful information architecture, prioritized common citizen needs, and infused the platform with clear visual cues, friendly language, and frictionless flows—ultimately making IremboApp a gateway to everyday essentials for every Rwandan.
We had to make sure:
✅ Users find what they need quickly despite the app housing a wide range of services
✅ The interface remains simple even as new services are added
✅ The app provides a smooth, frustration-free experience for users of all digital literacy levels
Impact
Millions of Rwandans now have a single app for essential services—no more juggling multiple platforms or making unnecessary trips.
Faster, smoother, and frustration-free. No more long wait times or confusing processes—the app streamlined interactions, cutting down application time significantly.
A win for usability🎉 IremboApp was praised for its clean, intuitive design that simplifies how Rwandans access government services. From effortless navigation to a smooth user flow, the app eliminated the complexity that once frustrated users.
Adoption skyrocketed. At launch, the app was widely embraced, with thousands downloading and using it within days. The response? Overwhelmingly positive—people loved how easy it was to apply for services without unnecessary steps.
A foundation for the future. Beyond just launching an app, we built a scalable system that can evolve with Rwanda’s digital transformation. This is just the beginning.
