Project Duration
2 Months
Overview
As a product design consultant, I was brought on by Sinc Rwanda to lead the end-to-end design of their first-ever mobile app experience.
My responsibilities included:
Understanding the business and user goals through stakeholder sessions
Auditing the current web platform and identifying mobile-specific pain points
Designing a mobile-first user experience and user interface
Prototyping and testing critical user flows
Delivering developer-ready designs and supporting handoff
Opportunity
Sinc had already established a solid web platform for event discovery and ticketing, which worked well for organizers and pre-event planning. However, in fast-paced event environments, especially on the day of the event, the web experience proved limiting:
Ticket access often required digging through emails or navigating desktop-centric pages, causing delays at entry points.
Mobile usability gaps meant attendees couldn’t interact with the platform fluidly while on the move.
Real-time updates and reminders—critical for event day logistics—were missing.
Attendee interaction was non-existent beyond ticket purchase, leaving untapped potential for in-event networking and community-building.
This presented an exciting opportunity to extend Sinc’s value proposition through a mobile app tailored to the dynamic needs of event attendees, enabling them to discover, access, and engage—anytime, anywhere.

Solution
I designed a dedicated Sinc mobile application experience focused on convenience, discovery, and community, optimized for event attendees.
Simplified Discovery & Navigation:
Designed a home experience for users to easily discover upcoming, nearby, or featured events, with filters and personalized recommendations.
Seamless Ticket Access:
Introduced a convenient way for users to view their purchased tickets (with QR codes) anytime. Also streamlined the purchase flow for last-minute attendees.
Event Reminders & Push Notifications:
Built in notification flows for event reminders, updates, and check-in prompts to keep users engaged and informed in real-time.
Built-in Networking Tools:
Designed lightweight attendee profiles and connection tools to support networking before, during, and after events, aligned with Sinc’s vision of being more than just a ticketing platform.
Impact
Expanded Product Offering: The mobile app allowed Sinc to reach users who rely entirely on mobile, positioning them as a modern, full-service event solution.
Improved Attendee Experience: Ticket access, event discovery, and on-site check-ins were now smooth, fast, and intuitive—directly from users’ phones.
Increased Event Engagement: Notifications and in-app networking features encouraged deeper engagement with events and fellow attendees.
Strengthened Brand Trust: A well-designed mobile app enhanced Sinc’s professional image and made them more competitive in the Rwandan tech ecosystem.
